Call Analysts Overview

The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) Call Report Agencies (FDIC, FRB, and OCC) have developed a new secure, shared database for collecting and managing quarterly Call Report data. The Central Data Repository (CDR) was implemented on October 2005.

The October 2005 implementation of the CDR marked a revolution in the way that Call Report data are collected, validated, managed, and distributed. Under this new system, institutions will file their Call Report data via the Internet using software that contains the FFIEC’s edits for validating Call Report data before submission. Call Report software vendors have modified their software to incorporate edits that will help eliminate math and logical errors before processing. Quality edits will now require explanation. The CDR will facilitate faster exchange of data between banks and FFIEC Call Agencies. There will be an easier accommodation of Call report changes and a flexible system that can accommodate evolving business needs. A decrease of time between the receipt of data and the release of data to the public will occur.

The links in the Call Analysts section of the user guide will provide guidance on topics like security, Panel of Reporters, analyst’s assignments and managing Call reports. Descriptions of available reports are given and there are also instructions on how to download The FI Call facsimile which is the entire call report for a financial institution for a selected date. A glossary is included at the end.
