PRIVACY POLICY for FFIEC WEBSITES

The FFIEC is committed to maintaining the privacy of your personal information. The following describes how the FFIEC handles your personal information when you visit our websites (http://www.ffiec.gov; https://cdr.ffiec.gov/cdr; https://cdr.ffiec.gov/public), register to use a specific service, or contact us. The FFIEC collects, stores, or uses information obtained through these websites, only as described below.

Information We Collect and Store When You Visit the Public Data Distribution (PDD) Website

This information includes the following:

- date and time that you access our site

- pages that you visit

- type of browser used to access our site (for example: Netscape 4.0)

- Internet Protocol address from which you access or link to our site (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the web)

- action that you tried to perform and whether or not you were successful (for example: download a document)

Information We Collect and Store When You Use the Public Web Service (PWS)

Users of the PWS must be authenticated to access the financial institution data stored within the web service.

In order to use the service, an account must be created via a secure, online form by providing the following information:

-first and last name

-organization (optional)

-email address

-secret question from a list, and answer

-user name you choose

-personal password

Once the account is established, an email is sent containing your user name, security token (personal identification code), links to software downloads, and instructions for using the web service. This name and token are used to authenticate access to the service. The date, time, and list of any products you download will also be collected each time you access the PWS.

The FFIEC will maintain your personal information as long as the account is active. If the account is inactive for over one year, it will be removed from our system. FFIEC employees and authorized contractors who support our systems will see the information in the course of their official duties. In limited circumstances, such as requests from Congress or pursuant to court order, we may be required by law to maintain or disclose information that you have provided.

Information We Collect and Store When You Send an E-mail

If you choose to give us feedback on the website via electronic mail (or if you request additional information from the FFIEC), you will be asked for your name and address and will have the option of providing other information, such as your profession. If you send e-mail to the FFIEC, we will consider that to be your consent for the FFIEC to use the information collected from the message consistent with this policy.

If you provide your name and other information, the FFIEC will maintain the information to process your request or inquiry. FFIEC employees and authorized contractors who support our systems will see the information in the course of their official duties. In limited circumstances, such as requests from Congress or pursuant to a court order, we may be required by law to maintain or disclose information that you have provided.

Please note that e-mail is not necessarily secure against interception, and that e-mail features in this website are not encrypted. If your communication is very sensitive, or includes personal information, like your bank account or social security number, you might want to send it by postal mail instead of e-mail.

How We Use the Information

The FFIEC uses the information -- both the information that is collected automatically and the additional information that you may provide -- to measure the volume of requests for specific website pages, to improve the website, and to be responsive to user needs and inquiries. The FFIEC may use the IP address information to monitor unusually heavy activity from a single address.

Although questions, comments, and other communications that we receive generally are not retained as permanent records, please note that it is possible that any mail, electronic or paper, that we receive could become part of the permanent record of the FFIEC, if the mail is part of materials that are scheduled for permanent retention.

Security of the Website

For the security of our site and to ensure that the site remains available to all users, the FFIEC employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. See the FFIEC Disclaimer for additional information on this issue.

Links to Other Sites

Links to websites outside of the FFIEC are only provided for your convenience. Once you leave an FFIEC website, this Privacy Policy no longer applies.
